I think I agree with all who have posted that the S5 does not need a full flat grind. The bevel is certainly tall enough that it really does not need this sort of modification. The only issue I have with it is the fact that I do not like saber grinds as much as full flat or full convexed. Usually it is a functional preference but it is also an aesthetic preference.
I did thin out the edge a bit and it was pretty easy even with my lack of a belt sander etc. My guess is if I try to do a full flat reprofile I would end up butchering the finish, which would suck. The knife does a noticeable better job at everything with the edge thinned out. I think the knife is plenty thick enough that reprofiling it would not violate system integrity.
For the thumb ramp, I like having it but I am becoming tempted to add some jimping to make it more functional. Part of the reason I sold my single remaining Busse Combat and purchased this bit of much less expensive INFI was to have some fun with it. The Busse never even got tried out because I had, what I feel, too much money wrapped up in it and I could not make myself 'drive it off the lot.'
Thank you for all the replies. I will keep the suggestions in mind.
