Hi everyone

I've posted a knife kit project before - an Enzo that I finished. That was very satisfying, but a little too easy since the scales came basically finished, with very little sculpting and sanding to be done.

Well, I wanted something more challenging this time around so I decided on a blade from Steve Wade Cox in England with some spalted maple scales from Texasknife.

Both arrived last week and although the blade took a couple of months, man was it worth it.

Here are the specs:

Steel: O1 high carbon steel
Length: 8.6"
blade length: 4.3"
Thickness: 0.157"
RC: 57-58
Grind: Scandi
Shape: Spear

Handle scales:

Stabilized spalted maple burl blocks

I love the quality of the blade. It has a beautiful grind, probably the best I've seen and this is one very affordable way of getting a custom knife. It came hair shaving sharp and after a couple of passes on the strop it's scary sharp.

Anyway, I enjoyed putting it together and thought I'd share some pics:

I first epoxied the spacers to the wood then taped the wood to the tang and drilled the holes:

The scales fitted together well and I could finish the front before I epoxied it to the tang:
