So what about the preservation of human culture? Of history, science, art, the accumulated knowledge of the human race?
I suspect that in a true collapse of society the majority of the folks who would say that their focus would be on preserving items with cultural, artistic or historical significance would abandon those ideals very quickly in order to care for their basic survival needs. Those that did not, would most likely become victims.
