I should make a note about whittling with the Regulator.
I'm making an hourglass stand out of Lexan, and to finish the ends of the support rods I decided to do it the old fashioned way and whittle them down to fit the peg holes.
The Regulator does indeed work very well for whittling, the wide grippy handle gives excellent leverage. I still use a small wharncliffe blade for detail work, but the Reg. gouges deep pretty quick.
Unfortunately the back guard does make my thumb sore after an hour of whittling.
Deregulation is definitely preferable for camp utility use.
