Today I was cleaning up the big bad Regulator. What an overbuilt monster combat bowie. I just can't get over how beefy that blade is. And the Regulator handle is really roomy even for my large hands, cushy, too. Since the old Kalamazoo was just sitting there, covered in pine pollen, I figured it was time to shake off the dust and work the Regulator edge a bit. I didn't want to go too thin and grind off the coating, just thin the edge a little for improved slicing. I just love SR101 (52100) steel. It takes a really sharp edge and holds it very well. I set the new angle with 40 grit and then took it on down to 180 grit and then 15 micron. I finished with the leather strop. Wow will this baby cut.

I think Dan chose a great steel for this bowie. SR101 rocks! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
