a mora sounds like a really good choice when you think about the possibilty of loosing the knife. it's still a nice enough blade that i think i want one myself. snag that for him and maybe something will come down the line from the yard that will suite him as he gets used to handling knives.

i don't think you can go wrong though... i used to tell parents all the time that the only way to go wrong is to not put anything there for your kid when you can.
