Hey Myke,
I just asked him to make it chop well without thinning it too much. I don't think he removed that much metal. It does not bite as well as the NMFBM did, but it for some reason, it blows out huge chunks of wood. I did get tired using it though. Much more so than the NMFBM. I don't think that it's the weight difference as much it is the weight distribution. The balance of the KZ makes it want to chop by itself so you better hold on. It seems to have a mind of its own too. It felt a little hard to control. It's a beast for sure. I actually prefer the NMFBM to it by a wide margin. So, I'll start my quest to find another one soon.
I will keep the KZ thought. Since it was NDO'd it works quite well. My dad loved it. He said, "It's like a hatchet." He loves hatchets. He used the KZ to chop and was wearing sandals. When I suggested that he put on some boots, he laughed. In the PI they used BIG blades for almost everything. And no one wears boots. He never swings full power though. I think about 70% strength. I think that makes him more accurate and he can swing a big knife all day.
Anyhow, I'd love to pick up a new and improved KZ to compare and to give it to my dad. Every knife I've given him he USES hard. So, his next blade will be a Busse or a Scrapyard.
