The one I found was a whitetail deer.It was dead only a short while when I first ran into it in sept.during bow season on Camp Lejuene,N.C.
The hide & tail were still on the carcass.
Finally in november it was clean enough that I wasn't grossed out about taking it home & boiling & bleaching it.It was still on a nail on a tree in my back yard when I left for a year in Japan.
There are no goats or sheep native to eastern N.C.that I know of.
The "horns" are the pedical where the antlers attach to the skull.They are small because it's a yearling.
