I honor all veterans. When I was in Germany in the late 70s with the 1AD, I spent nine months of my first year there in the field. I lived in that tank. I was a tank platoon leader. We would roll out in the middle of the night on alerts to face the big red horde. We were ready for war. Same as when I was in England with the 81st Tac Fighter Wing in 1969-1971. We were on alert status and ready to send those F4 Phantoms off with nukes. I only served one year in actual war, from 1967-68, but that war was just the hot part of the bigger Cold War. All who served were defending our nation, whether they served in actual combat or not. I do especially honor those who saw combat. But all were willing and served when and where the nation needed them. To deter war with our military is preferable to getting into a war, IMO. You served your nation.
