This is my Dereg, the Patina is a little more custom than some, but it can be as pretty or as drab as you'd like, just takes a little creativity!

I washed the blade in a phosphoric acid solution to get the base patina a fairly even coating, they're metal cleaner stick originally intended to clean rust from the pinchweld under a windshield. the first coat I let the knife soak for about 10 minutes. The Stripes I applied with good old fashioned ketchup, using a q-tip, I dipped and applied liberally, then I let it sit about 40 minutes before rinsing it off. The forced patina also acts as a "red" rust inhibitor, preventing corrosion, although technically it is a form of surface rust.
