The 1861 is an impressive piece. We were whacking steel plates at 200 yards with it. A 75 grain load seemed to work quite well for us. Aamazing that a soldier would get off a round every 20 seconds with one. My black powder experience is very limited, but I definitley want to learn more.
We have done quite a bit of training in this area and there is always something new to find. I had not been to these falls before. Apparently Pancho Via hung out here back in the day. There is a Spanish fort from the 1600's not too far from where we were at. We pass it on a Jeep run that we do from time to time.
