James,

You've found an awesome place to call home. If you haven't been over to Rat Chat (Swamp Rat's forum) you should take a look around there too. I just assumed (you know what they say about ASSumptions) you knew about the Yard when I bought the SOD and DM. Sorry brother - I should have told you to stop by!!!

THere are a lot of good people here, and a wealth of blade related knowledge. Its a clean "family friendly" place to hang out.

Your trips sound awesome. My wife and I backpack, hike, and camp too. In fact, I can't wait to get out there for the first trip of the year. I had planned on making a two day "mock bug-out" trip into the Hoosier National Forrest this winter, but life conspired to keep me from doing so.

We'll start our camping season next month, but I might find my way into the woods sooner.

Your S6 and DF are legendary blades. I don't have a S6, but do have a couple of DF's. They are freaking awesome choppers.

If I can offer a scrap (pun intended) of advice...

I believe in the "blade trifecta" or "blade trinity" meaning that I like to have a small (3-4") fixed blade, medium (5-6") fixed blade, and large (10") fixed blade while in the field. If you don't have a good fit for the 3-4" blade then take a look at the Swamp Rat "Rodent Solution" that was just released....or....wait for Dan to release the CG version of the Scrapivore!

Welcome and stick around. We don't get as much traffic / activity as I'd like, but you could be part of the solution <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/loopy.gif" alt="" />
