Does the clip hold tight on pants without a belt or maybe in a pocket on a backpack?
Yes! I use the Scrapivore on my running shorts...holds fine. I use the SS4 in my backpack sometimes and attach the clip onto an inner panel...holds fine. However, it is NOT a replacement for a good metal clip, if that is your intended mode of carry....the metal clips I've used in the past have much more tension.
