That is excellent advice on not being intimidated by your doctor and I definitley appreciate the education Gary.
I have had skin cancer twice. I went through the surgical procedures recommended by my dermatologist. The first time I showed my primary care physician the "area of concern" on my arm, he said it was nothing. I believed him and let it go. I then saw a similar "area of concern" on my jaw while I was shaving. I ended up going directly to a dermatologist who recommended I have biopsies. What do you know, skin cancer. I went through the surgery and now get a checkup every 6 months with my dermatologist.
One simply must ask questions and voice your concerns to one's physician. A second opinion is a default response to any of my concerns now.
