I grow and harvest sugar cane and eucalyptus on my property. So all my blades get really used. All my life I used tramontina machetes and thought they were the best. Well before I went down there this last time I found my Collins & Co. Legitimus machete made in the 1940s that my father had given me a long time ago.

The Legitimus is by far the best mechete I have ever seen in person. It blew away all my tramontinas, and I have about 15 of them that we use to harvest the sugar cane with. I sharpened it one time when I got there and it stayed razor sharp till the day I left(3 years of daily use). I cut down trees with the thing almost everyday.

Since then I have been trying to find another one.

It never rusted just got a really nice black patina. My INFI blades never even thought about rusting. Even the ones I left in my closet for months on end. The leather sheaths turned green and grew about a inch of hair but the blades were pristine.
