I was cleaning out the messages on my phone at work today and came across several that were from my friend who died from brain cancer a few months ago. It was really heart wrenching to hear his voice saying: "Guess I'll talk to you tomorrow."
Reminded me of the struggles his wife and children are going through. Reminded me of how fragile life is. Reminded me of the need to say I love you to my wife and kids more often--you never know when it will be the last time in this life.
It also made me reflect on the funeral, when a bird flew into the window when the preacher started to talk and the smile that brought to my face, feeling that my friend was there, seeing the humor in that, and laughing along with my smile.
Go hug your wife, your husband, your girl or boyfriend, your children, your parents, or whoever you have close to you right now. Tell them what they mean to you. And take a few moments to ponder the miraculous blessing of life and the wonderful gift we have in each moment of the day.
