Ok, in your experience, what is the ultimate Bussekin Chopper? One's I've handled include: BWM, DF, M9, KZ2, B11, and Rodent 9.
-- I couldn't get into the KZ2--that handle end, while maybe more traditional, just did not sit well with my hand as I swung it around maniacally in my basement. The handle on Jrod's KZ seems much nicer.
-- Similar issues with the M9--that little hump at the end seems to make hot spots for chopping.
-- I love the BWM, but a little more weight might make it a nicer chopper.
-- Jury's still out on the Rodent 9--I haven't worked up the courage yet to go whack it around and I can't tell whether I love or hate that handle.
-- The DogFather is a nice chunk of steel--well balanced and nicely weighted. I'll admit though, that I am preferentially disposed toward micarta, which tends not to get dinged when whacked with a baton.
-- The B-11 handle felt a little too small in my hands. Again, the whole Res-C vice micarta issue comes into play here too.
-- I supposedly also have a Rat Mastiff on the way. I LOVE my Chopweiler--blade shape and handle combo are about perfect. If only they made an extended version of THAT, I think that might put me in paradise
Anyone have any thoughts on what the ultimate Bussekin chopper is (and not the ax or hatchet related type )? The quest for the grail of big blades continues.
