I always wanted an AR-7 but never got one. Though not cheap, or even legal for some, a long barrel pistol works for me best. I still have a Buckmark Silhouette (.22, 10") with optics and a S&W 686 (.357, 8.5") with optics that I carry.
Reliable and accurate enough to give me rifle accuracy out to about 50 yds.
I owned a Ruger Mk2 Competition Target Model (commonly referred to as a "Slab Side" due to its slab sided 6-7/8" barrel) that was remarkably accurate. I would not hesitate to use one of these (especially if equipped with a Leupold handgun scope) to take small game. However, at 42oz it wasn't "lightweight" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />.
I do regret selling that one!
