Great photos, guess I will start off by thanking my good friend Pitman for all of his work on this as well as the good people at Swamprat and Busse Knives. The Rodent 4 is a great knife, i really can't say this any other way. If you are on the verge getting this blade I highly recommend you just do it! You will not regret it. It is well thought out and designed, great balance and the handle- wow, it literally feels like it is a part of my hand, I love it. I had the sheath custom made for my blade by Mr Jeff Law at Rainwalker and I will definitely be a return customer, he is not only a good man but a great American craftsman and I am proud to carry his work with my knife.
Ishikawa, you asked what mods I made to the sheath. To tell the truth they are not my mods but go back to my time in the USAF. When I took the combat survival training the SERE instructor was talking to me one day and mentioned how he likes to take some copper snare-wire and wrap that around either the handle or the sheath of his knife, as well as as much paracord as he could. Every since then I have turned my knifes into mini-survival kits. Aside from the knife and the ferro rod I have wrapped this sheath with about ten feet of copper wire, an equal length of five pound fishing line, three small fishing hooks and three sinkers, this is held in place by a ranger band, over this is wrapped a single thirty six foot length of 550 paracord and over that is are another two ranger bands. I will be adding two larger sized sewing needle and one fine one as well as a little sewing thread. I have an additional twelve feet of 550 with the knife lanyard and the black paracord attached to the bottom of the sheath was placed there by Rainwalker and while I have not untied it, it appears to be about equal amount to the knife lanyard. The basic idea is if I find myself lost or alone with just this knife I have nothing to really worry about. Hope you enjoy!
