The 1311 is a lot like a machete. A kukri is a lot like a machete. They can both chop too. I love kukris, and I'm probably going to sell a kidney for an INFI kukri someday, but I feel like they're too much for light and colorful jungle/forest/zombie stuff that machetes are for. Everything is a compromise, and everyone has different feelings about what compromise is best. But, I don't think anyone will disagree about the good value for the money that you get from machetes, and the 1311 is a decent value for its quality, even if it's very expensive compared to most utility machetes.
Things get interesting when you don't consider price, and only focus on quality and functionality. My question is, if the prices don't matter, which blade would you want with you in whatever circumstance you can imagine, which blade would you leave behind, what accessories would you want (if any), and why? For this question, obviously weight matters, and kukris are heavy, so I think it's reasonable to expect something "more" from them versus lighter machetes. Both machetes and kukris are proven in modern combat, but machetes get left behind in favor of extra ammo (etc), while kukris don't get left behind for some reason...
