I believe it was Jroden who posted a wooden sheath on this forum. I tried to find that post but failed. I wanted to steal some ideas off of him. However, I am glad I didn't find it since this is less of a copycat sheath without it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I used some scrap red oak and scrap leather. I had the button snaps already too. The only thing I had to buy was a red oak dowel. I finished it with some Danish Oil that had the smallest amount of pigment in it.

I could have done better if I would have taken my sergeant major up on the offer to use his tools. Since I didn't, I used hand tools and getting the holes for the dowels wasn't exactly precise.

I originally planned to shape the wood like the blade, but once I got everything glued and pegged, I really liked the simplicity of it, so ...

Figured I'd put this here instead of down there.

I gave in and added a belt loop and leg strap thingy. I will get a leather strap to replace the 550 cord to stick with the natural theme.

An added bonus, if I break my femur, I will already be wearing a splint. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

This all was definitely a down and dirty job. I knocked it out in one evening and still managed my daily workout.
