Fond FW: You make some great points. However, if your belt knife catastrophically snaps in half, what is your backup? Would you then want to rely on your 1311 as your primary knife for all tasks?

My EDC is a RMD. Love love love it. But I am a redundancy freak and I have to consider, if my favorite tool is destroyed, what do I have left to fill the void? The 911 is a perfect backup. Big enough for chopping, small enough for finesse work.

My belt knife right now is a choilless Boss Jack CG , and .22" full convex INFI is going to be virtually impossible for me at 140 lbs. to snap in half. IF it somehow did become broken or unserviceable, I wouldn't feel bad about using my 1311 as a primary. The 1311, while no lightweight, is still light enough with a thin enough grind to not be too unwieldy for the finer tasks.

I too am a redundancy freak and I virtually always have my Boss Jack, Scrapivore and Leatherman Charge TTi handy. I always have a 1311 & M/O KD Sniper Hawk in my pack, which is usually close by.

If I wanted to go ultra-light, I would bring a choilless Basic 10 LE with my Scrapivore and be VERY well served by this combo. I could even leave the Scrapivore out and still feel pretty good as the B10LE is my ideal all-rounder for a number of reasons, but for a few more ounces I see no reason not to bring the little guy.

Heck, I wouldn't hesitate to just have my M/O KD Sniper Hawk and leave the knives out of it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
