i was making a legal transaction. if i decide to do something illegal with that beer after it becomes my property, then i should/could be held accountable for it. what business is it of the clerk's or company's? they've held up their lawful part of the equation and that should be it as far as they are concerned.

i could see it reasonable if i showed up with minors for the express purpose of buying a keg, that is suspicious. but where do you draw the line? maybe you shouldn't sell me a length of rope, a may strangle someone with it. what if i buy gasoline and burn myself alive?

I'll play devil's advocate. I'm guessing they could be held liable. For discussion's sake, let's say that girl was a minor, and the transaction was made, if something happened to her because of the alcohol, the store might be sued by her parents. We live in a very litigious society and no one wants their pants sued off.
