I gotta think that as soon as that blade touched both wires, the knife would melt and the there would be a huge arc that would have knocked the soldier on his butt (if he was lucky).

Melted an old folder when cutting the battery line on a military jeep many, many, many years ago. And yes, it was a jeep, not a Hummer.
