Most of those things you mention are sold internationally, and also much less likely to be left behind or dropped during an operation. A knife from Wauseon OH would pretty much spell out who had been there if found by the enemy. A blank knife could be from anyone, even a local for all they know.

At least that is the explanation I have read. Many soldiers carry branded gear, but if an elite unit is ordering knives they would likely want them sterile.
