Well, for the farm scene a .50 cal. probably wouldn't have worked...maybe a flame-thrower tank?

I think a .22 provides the ability to carry a lot of ammo, and a Scrapizashi or larger sword would keep them far enough away from you so you don't get scratched and infected.
