I'm not so much concerned with the lighting as how to get the entire knife UP CLOSE. Do you use Macro?

No, not really. I have a 50 mm that I use, and if I really want to get close I use extension tubes.

Guess I could play around with it some on Patty's second camera. It has an 18-250 zoom lens on it.

I had a 105 mm macro for a while, but I just didn't use it much.

A 50 mm and extension tubes would work better, be more flexible and cost less money.
