I heard mine rattling around...figured she was done!
You tried that lock break yet? I was impressed!
To clarify for folks, the butt screws on and holds a small, round sharpening stone. Mine broke in the first chops I believe. No biggee for me. Part of me thinks it's a good spot to stash $$.

This thread is germane to my interests.
Rich, Thanks for taking the time to post your results. I may have missed it, but do you prefer the BR or TH.

Two different tools for me. I looked at the chain and lock and thought "would I even try my Battle Rat? " and the answer is nope!
From an even more practical point of view, if there was a car accident by my home, what would I grab? My fixed blades could be used to try and wedge open a door maybe and cutaway belts, but that's about it. I don't own a lot of tools, not even a crow bar so a hammer maybe? I think this RMJ brings a lot to a situation like that...all in a 20 ounce package.
I don't know if you can see videos on your iPhone Gary, but that video I linked to is quite cool. Think the part on cars starts about 12 minutes or so...

Great review RN I have been working overtime to get a hawk! Maybe the RMJ Kestrel Feather! I'm glad it chops well and can be used as a breaching tool if needed, I would never use a blade to break a lock...well not my blade... MM

Thanks MM! The kestrel feather at 4 ounces less sounds great to me! Even thinning it down compared to the Shrike, it still must be a bomb proof beast!
After checking out the Shrike, if I had to do it over again I would probably get the Kestrel Feather.

Rich, if you like the Winkler 'hawks check out JK Knives forum at BFC. He has a thread there showing his 'hawks and hatchets. He has one that is VERY similar to the Winkler-Sayoc, and WAY cheaper.
