I stand corrected. Everyone make note of this, because its the one mistake I'm allowed annually.

I had:

(2) ETS SJTAC
and
(2) SFM-1 Afghan SJTAC

The two SFM-1 SJTAC look a lot like the Jackhammer (without CBT).

I wouldn't even call them variants. To me they're all Jack Hammers (Jack Hammer, SFM-1, and Axe Hammer). I would call the Jack Hammer a SJTAC variant, though.

Good to know. I always assumed they were a Satin Jack variant, because Busse Collector has them listed under the SJ heading. I couldn't find the Jackhammer listed.

The Axe Hammer feels just like the SJTAC in the hand. This means its a little flat and boxy feeling, but light. However, it doesn't feel particularly "quick".

I think the SJTAC line wasn't overly popular because it lacks the refinement of the other Busse offerings of similar size. The Axe Hammer, like the standard SJTACs, ETS SJTACs, and SFM-1 SJTACs I've owned are basic in their design. They don't compare to an ASH, SFNO, etc.

I'm keeping mine, but you won't see a picture like above (four of one basic design) from me. Having a good sheath included is a nice feature of the AXE.

The only thing I don't like about them is the lack of handle scale contouring. I really feel the handles should be contoured.

I'm interested in seeing your impressions of the Vex when you receive yours.

YES! The ergo of the Axe Hammer (and listed SJTACs) is "boxy / flat" because the scales are ... well ... flat. The belly and humpback on the handle feels good, but the scales don't feel the voids in the other direction. It makes for a light, but slow feeling blade.

The one is out for delivery today. However, this doesn't mean it'll arrive today. Rural mail...

Anyway, I've been whining on here enough about getting a bushcraft offering from the Yard, and it doesn't appear to be in the making so I went to the Swamp. I actually prefer full tang with applied scales so the Vex has great promise. This is all speculation as I've not even held it yet!

If we like them, I'm going to have a blue sheath made for my wife's. Maybe she'll actually use this one. I keep buying her bruisers, but she only admires them when I pull them out for internet pictures...because she knows what I paid for all of that satin infi...

I REALLY hope I get some traction in BF thread. I logged in today to sell some, and ended up picking another up.

This is worse than the gun addiction I had. I finally broke that, but think I might have replaced it with a renewed Busse(kin) addiction.

This is probably what I get for not drinking, smoking, and using drugs.

I'm pretty sure that is the case. They're listed as 4.0". I'd have to verify if you're thinking about state/location length restrictions.

It is NOT cutting length.

The High Street has a sheath.

I don't worry about length restrictions. IF I carry a bigger blade it is always visible. AS FAR AS I KNOW the only "Restrictions" about length here are that if it is a folder it has to be 4 inches or less to be carried "concealed".
