No matter how much I want to, I just can't spend that now. We've got to build back up after the vacation and we've got some kind water leak somewhere between the meter and the house I am afraid. I am gonna look under the house one more time, but last time I couldn't find one..

Randy, if you did everything you're talking about to a LM you'd end up with this... ![[Linked Image from i61.tinypic.com]](http://i61.tinypic.com/6tgron.jpg)

Yeah but it would have about a 1/2 inch longer cutting edge If I have it figured right. Oh Well, wish in one hand and.... Actually it's no biggie. I would rather spend the money on Patty than myself anyway, no matter how much it sounds different. But like everyone, there are things that I would like to have just because.

But like everyone, there are things that I would like to have just because. Once people stop feeling this way, and start thinking about ONLY what they NEED our economy (which is based on mass consumerism and faith in fiat currency) is going to crash. I was driving this morning, and thinking about how many knives I have and why. If I cut through the emotion, etc I really only need three knives!

Yeah If we ONLY satisfied our needs, the country wouldn't need HIM to ruin it, we'd be doing it ourselves.

Downshifting. Click here to read about Downshifting. This is what my wife and I started doing years ago, and it finally culminated with her resigning her position at a financial institution (after over 10 years) and staying home to run our home (and small-holding organic farm). Less can be more. Its sounds stupid and like something you'd see on a billboard, but it is true. We shared ONE car for six years. This might sound normal to someone who lives in a city, but try living 20 minutes from the edge of town (while both people are employed full time)! When we moved to the rural countryside we bought a second vehicle, but hope our two vehicles will only need to be replaced one more time in our lifetime! Consumerism. Its just a vile word to us.

We embraced 'downshifting' and 'simple living' back in the mid-2000's. It has been great! Simple Living explained here. My personal interest in gears, guns, and knives have blurred the purity of this, but I'm in the process of selling most of it off so we can finalize the transition. I coined the phrase "Social Opting Out". Its basically dropping out of the media / consumer driven rat race. Here's an interesting article about downshifting... One person's journey...

Nice Gary. Maybe now yet, but SOME DAY, Y'all will be rewarded with a great, slow paced less stressful life and can laugh at all us Rat Racers. Not mockingly, but with the satisfaction that we too could have done this if only "The Spirit were willing".

We're already starting to feel that (even though I'm only 40% out of the race). We have dinner with my wife's family once a week, and have been able to judge the change in us by how we feel about the "dinner table conversations".
We don't mock those who are stuck in the matrix. We actually feel pity for them. There is a simpler way.
