I really like that general SAR 5 design. Wish the new Esee camplore design was going to be smaller b/c that design looks wonderful. I've seen a guy named Jeff White has a very similar design using 1095 and seems to be well regarded. His smaller version is very inexpensive and I think I'll take one for a spin at some point.

Just last week I was reading about the ESEE on Randle's site.

I like the design of the Camp Lore, and think it would make a nice paring with a Izula and Junglas.

Adam, spent 7am-now working around the property and we 're exhausted. Didn't get to use the SAR because I don't have a sheath that'll work. I'll give a write up next week when I don't have to type on this dreadful phone.

I logged in to ask if you closed the deal on the NO-E? I'm excited for you.

I'm committed to the deal, but I'm not having any luck selling my steel to cover my end. Whatever happens I will honor my commitment this evening. I offered to cover PayPal fees since he's holding it for me.

Well, I've decided my search for the perfect Bushcrafter isn't over. I'm starting to think this search is going to be expensive.

A good search can get that way.

I am not a "bushcrafter" I don't think. I use a knife for camp fires and such, but my knives are mostly used for everyday jobs. My favorite knives are the ones with the most applications. Choppers are awesome for a very narrow use. Small knives are good for a slightly wider use. However, and this probably isn't counted as a pure knife, multitools are the best "one knife to rule them all" in any situation. If I could only have one knife in any long term situation, it would be a multitool.

Talking with Adam and Rich influenced me in a way that lead me to start looking outside the Bussekin family for bushcrafters. Its unfortunate that the Yard or Swamp aren't taking this growing market segment seriously. I honestly feel that its being completely ignored by them. The Swamp Warden isn't even a standard offering.

My perceptions of what constitutes a bushcrafter has been shaped by this thread, and recent testing of my own.

I'm stuck thinking a 4" FFG x 1/8" makes the most sense. I recently had a Bark River Bravo-1, and had it been one of the stainless models (my knife was A2) and no thicker than .1875" I would have kept it because it was ... close .... very very close ... to what I perceive to be a GREAT BC knife.

BRKT makes a Bravo 1 LT that is .156", but all off the ones I've seen were 3V. Tough stuff.
