For woodmanship I tend to modify the trifecta...

DETAIL (3-4" fixed)
GENERAL (6-8" fixed)
CHOPPER (10-11" fixed)

Everything is "up scaled" because of the challenges encountered in the wilderness.

^^ Yup, Just like he said. (But I would dig down into the 9 inch range up to the 1311 size as my category upper and lower size).

Edited. my answer was to his second post above.

Feederle mentioned the Cold Steel Gurkha Kukuri. I have one and it is a brush clearing, wood processing FOOL!

That is one that has always interested me. However, before I got around to buying one I went "all Kin". That rule, I am sad to announce, was broken today. I bought a Grayman fixed blade, because they have intrigued me for a long time and have some interesting designs.

Suenami 7. It wasn't my first choice, but an opportunity presented itself. The single bevel is curious. I'm excited to receive this as it'll be my first non-Busse(kin) fixed blade since 2008.

The Ground Pounder is the model I was considering. It looks like a poor man's NMSFNO.

I would add to my list a home beater. I had an esee 5 that I ended up selling because I found myself accumulating to many blades and the person I sold it to was giving to his son. The esee 5 was my most used knife. I used it for so many rough household chores such as batonning laminate flooring that my skill saw couldnt reach, pulling up and cut carpet, digging holes in the garden. Tough little guy it was.

"home beater" fits into my General Purpose category too. We use 5" knives around the house all the time. I think a RMD makes a great beater for this purpose.
