Vic - I wish you well in your attempt to escape from chiggars - they ARE evil!!! However, using a good bug repellant with strong DEET formulation will definitely help. For itching, I have found the product Ivarest does a pretty good job. It is like a thick calamine lotion in a plastic squeeze tube. Tom

Thanks, Tom. I have a number of chigger treaments. I was just stupid to go in my yard this time of year without DEET. I am going to dust around those areas that the kids and I frequent. Itching is a torment!

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Thats right. It has failed. I got dozens of chigger bites when I was chopping out back. Tis the season. So I got this Yard Guard. I sprayed it around the patio to control pests. My teenage girls were unaffected by it! Maybe it will work on the chiggers, though.

And chiggers are much too small to use this Yard Guard on them.

Wow its funny you guys are talking about chiggers. I was just talking about them to a friend that lives out in the south. I had asked him how do u get read of them once u got them. I guess most folks use clear nail polish to put over the bit. Its suppose to keep them from getting air. I did a search and found that chiggers are a larva. They are microscopic and they feed on ur skin. Once the bites start to itch and get pimpely the chigger has already fallen off ur skin. I guess deet is one of the best ways to prevent them and some type of powder.

In Texas they call them "Red Bugs". I found out last year when my feet and legs were destroyed by them...I went to 3 drugs stores asking if they had anything for Chiggers and they thought I was nuts. The fourth drug store had a fella from Georgia that said "they hurt don't they" and you got bit by red bugs.

He gave me some special stuff that really worked...it was like clear nail polish with lanagain (spelling) Killed the itch and killed the little bugs

Sounds like an excuse to try the dog father or yard hook.
