Title says it all! Anyone chop with it as yet? Or just use it? Is it multiple-purpose?

LIGHT chopping. Did a limb about as big as my finger and it sailed through. It should serve as a good all around "Survival Combat" blade. I mean Dan DID design it as a COMBAT knife!
That means opening up MREs, cutting banding material, opening up crates and all sorts of uses you might not normally think of.
Better at some, not so much at others, but still an all around blade.

Wish I had an excuse for more knives. But funds are going to gear and guns now

I would put the Tali in the LIGHT 711 category. NO It's not as much of a chopper as the 711 is, but if all I had was a tali and no 711 I wouldn't feel hindered at all. The Tali will chop, just not as well as a "Blade heavy" designed one. For a Multi function blade, I would have to give a LOT of thought between the Tali and the 711.
Considerations would be weight, ACTUAL type of use, and blade shape. IF it would be more of a protection blade, the Tali would win hands down. TO ME the blade shape and balance are more conducive to a "Fighter". If more of a Chopper/camp blade, the scales might tend to tilt toward the 711.
It would just require some serious thinking, much like the Wilderness Survival Knife thread has brought about.

Oh sorry Rich. Against the S5, NO comparison. Tali all the way, unless I didn't want a blade the size of the Tali. esee 6, don't have one but I do have a Scrapyard S6. Now, to me, the decision becomes more difficult. The S6 can suffice as a fighter OR a survival blade. Shorter than the 711 and Tali yes, but the blade profile... Well to me it's more akin to a fighter, but will work as a (Once again) light chopper. Just tie a lanyard on it and use a couple or three fingers on the handle and it will do most of what you need. Now mind you, I DO NOT have any heavy or long term use of these knives this way, just a quick and dirty "Hummm I wonder how it would work if I....". No brain cells were actually harmed in these observations.

Oh and Light light. Nah, you could chop down a fair sized tree/sapling with the Tali, it just might take a tad bit longer.

I'd say it'd be easier to take down trees with Tali if you batoned it. To me it's too light to be anywhere close to a chopper, but the blade width and almost straight spine would work on up to trees 5-6 inches thick.

esee 6, don't have one but I do have a Scrapyard S6.
S6 ??? Which blade is that? I may be losing it, but I don't recall a blade named S6...
