I think in a very limited run (or even a spesh edition for the dogs that want them :)) a Pikal would be sweet! I carried a Hibben Karambit for a while until a State Patrolman said he felt the pressure point spikes qualified as brass knuckles. I could use another GTFOM knife for everyday carry. Something with a ring would be ideal for me, but I know it's not part of the original design.

The emerson karambits (I really like the Combat) don't have the spikes. Yes they are folders, but that wave feature has them open when they exit your pocket. PLUS it you go for the fixed it fits in a jeans pocket real nice and the back of the kydex sheath will "Hook" on your pocket (Well it does mine) and only the knife comes out of the pocket.

I've been eyeballing the Emerson, but the price... I shudder at carrying EDC a knife that expensive, I couldn't forgive myself for losing something that pricey... Sadly, I tried a few Bud K Offerings... they've got plenty of company in the box they're in right now.

I've also heard (but in the past, haven't checked them lately) FOX USA karambits are pretty good. Also the 511 karambits are nice.

I think the Fox Karambits are made under license, since Emerson patented the "Wave". Kinda like buying a Ford instead of a Lincoln

Didn't even know 5.11 made a karambit. I carried a 2-1/2" blade of theirs that was discontinued for about 4 years. It worked beautifully, althought with the abuse I put it through, screws and rivets started coming out, haha. held up very well until I replaced it though.

Don't know if 511 still makes it or not but it can be found quite often. Just check their sight. It has a really good reputation, a lot of good words about it. Taranti (?) designed it.

Yeah, I just finished browsing. That specific blade ran 150-ish. They have 4 offerings on the website now. It appears LE is starting to realize how useful of a code black weapon they can be.

here's my thinking on knives intended for defense/fighting:

As long as it holds up to basic wear and tear, a 25$ Karambit works just as well as a 200$ Karambit when the only thing you're going to be cutting with it is a bad guy... smile

Although I'd kill for a War Boar...

I USED to feel the same way about the war boar. Then I figured out it was WAY (Well at least for me) to thick. Other than that, Yeah I would really like to have one.

I want to get the emerson Super Karambit and then My K-bit lust MIGHT be sated. Unless I decide I really need a Ghost II from Bark River.
