My Colt is NO WHERE on par with a Wilson or Les Bauer. BUT the guy that worked on it has probably 50 years as a gun smith and has actually built his own guns from scratch (Rifles). I've probably only 500 rounds though it and (THANKFULLY) never missed a lick.

My 100,000 center fire statement is intentionally EXCEPTIONALLY LOW.

Eight years ago my safe had 23 factory built ARs from seven manufacturers in it. I would shoot 350-500 rounds per trip to the range. I went to the range at least once a week and often as many as three timss a week. Do the math.

I built my first AR in 1984 and have owned DOZENS AND DOZENS over the past 3 decades. I've been fixing my own and friend's during that entire 30 years. I will only own BCM and Colt factory builds now. Ask me why? I've grown tired of wasting time on subpar parts, assembly, knowledge and QC. It's just easier to spend 10-15% more and get the right one from the start.

Twelve years ago I had five Class 3 full autos in my safe. I would spend evenings sitting at my reloading bench so I could take 1500rds a weekend to the range. This lasted for about 12 months. Do that math.

I sold all of my class 3 items a long time ago.

My AR collection is down to a couple of BCM and Colts that I'm trying to sell off. Why? The same reason I sold my AK collection (2x Arsenal SGL21, 7x Arsenal SLR-106 and 3x Arsenal SLR-107) last year / this year....

I found a better mousetrap with a 45,000rd barrel life which actually matters to a guy that will wear out a barrel of that making in 7 years.

Randy, I've shot 500 RDS thru my Baer in the last two weeks. I've never even cleaned the gun.

The last paragraph, you're talking about your Scar, right, AND or your Les Baer?

My philosophy has changed many times over the years, but it's been settled in one direction for the last four or five:

Shrink my collection to less "manual of arms" and only have a two copies on a single top-of-the-line gun. The days of 5 copies of a single design are over.

My collection is settling out to be:

(2) Ruger Mk3
(2) Ruger 10/22 Stainless Carbine with Leupold Scopes
(2) Ruger 10/22 Stainless Takedown with Tech Sights
(2) Ruger LCP
(2) Glock 19
(2) Glock 26
(2) S&W Shield 9
(2) 1911 (Les Baer Stainless Custom Carry and Ed Brown Executive Elite)
(2) HK 45Acp
(2) FN Scar-16 with ACOG
(2) FN Scar-17 with ACOG
(2) Springfield Armory SAR-48
(2) Benelli M1 Super 90

Why two? One in use and one in reserve. The reserve is tested and placed in tr safe but available for duty should the primary go down. The primary gets replaced or repaired as necessary. If the primary wears out - a new replacement is bought / tested and becomes the reserve. Gear rotation.

I'm getting close to being down to this collection. I have (3) Rem 870, a couple of ARs, (2) Marlin 22WMR, (1) LCP, (1) Ruger Mk3, several 10/22, and (1) Scar to sell and I'll have my perfect collection.

Improved corrosion resistance and ease of maintenance.

I can shoot here (use to do so) but I joined a range that is 3 minutes from my house and NEVER used by anyone else.

Yes and no.

Yes to the Scar and no to the Baer. For high round count HG I prefer Glock 9mm and HK 45Acps. However, nothing shoots as well as a 1911 for me - so it has to be a top builder.
