Sounds like an interesting optic. I'd take one in SFP for my Candace (My M14). She could use a better piece of glass than the crap I have on it right now...

It was around $799. My only issue is I've done some night shooting and a visible illuminated recticle is a MUST... I'm worried about an optic that requires batteries. Running out in SHTF would not be good. So for low light it would need paired with a trijicon RMR. With mean more money. Makes me wonder if trijicon will custom make one of their 2.5-10 models with tactical turrets.

Wow that was fast. The pics look exposed though. Not like a factory balistic turret.

An ACOG with RMR would kick ars but that's more than the rifle!

haha, yeah... I saw Trijicon's newest high power optical offering for long range rifles. I drooled until I saw the pricetag. just a hair over 4500$
What could I possibly mount that on that I could afford to shoot?
You piqued my curiosity about the upgraded turret knobs. I knew I had seen something else before. Turns out Stoney Point USED to make an upgrade knob that kinda fit the bill, but it's been discontinued. It looks like the kenton industries offering is the only option for upgrading knobs on that model Accupoint.
The 5-20x comes with target knobs though, but that's probably a lot more glass than you need for your purposes?

5-20 seems like to much... But paired up with a rmr... Would be as much as the ACOG pair.... Idk what to do. It's a 20in 410SS 1/8twist 556 match chamber BCM SAM-R barrel. So how do I balance speed with long range. I'd get the vortex hands down if that recticle wouldn't be useless in low/no light shooting. And I'm not depending on batteries. Maybe I should get the cheaper 2fp model and then get accupoint to swap on and off. Idk

I don't think you'd ever exercise that 20x on a 5.56 rifle :\ IMO, you'd be better off running an ACOG (any model will do, doesn't have to be an NSN model) and a smaller MRD on an offset.
Another option: Have you ever heard of the Bindon Aiming Concept? It seems to be a trick that a lot of people haven't even heard of, despite the ACOG being designed to take advantage of it. The concept is while looking through an illuminated reticle magnified optic (it IS possible with a high magnification scope, but works best around 4x) with both eyes open, focusing on your target just like with a red dot, the illuminated reticle will float in your field of view superimposed over the target, in much the same fashion as a red dot functions. The image through the optic will blur out and fade, but the reticle will still appear as a bright spot. It's not AS quick as a red dot, but I've used it while airsofting (with a NCStar cheapy 4x light up reticle) and had a great deal of success with it. The main difference is a magnified optic won't be parallax free, so accuracy at more than 20-30 yards will require actually sighting through the optic and focusing your eye. But for bad breath distances, it's more than adequate, and can be very fast.

Due to eye surgery as a child my optic nerve didn't fully developed in my left eye. So the BAC doesn't work. A family member has two acogs and as much as I like them for shooting at CQB distances all they are to me vision is a 4x scope.
