Actually, we've already established a precedent for doing that sort of thing with the sheath manufacturers. When a new knife is released, Dave or Dwayne let us know when a sheath is available. In order to get pricing or make a purchase, however, we have to contact them via PM or e-mail.

Interesting?? That's the first I've heard of that! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Can you supply more details on this please?

RW - you make some great looking stuff my friend. Just start a thread about your sheaths and mention that you'd be willing to make more, something to that effect. The kydex shots you've already got should be just fine - I'd just let people know that you're open to making more. Leatherface usually posts a "prototype" photo. PM's will probably be inbound shortly after that!

Can't be a blatant "for sale" thread though - don't list prices or anything - just "let it be known." <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I would like to see some of our "local" guys make sheaths that can be ordered through the company store - that'd be nice!

I wouldn't mind seeing a private trade forum, but at the same time, I don't want to undercut Dan's sales. I can already tell you that I wouldn't be trading anything off though - at least none of my Scrapyards - but I sure would trade FOR some new Scrappers!!

I can't see how selling Dan's knives by discrete means here would impact new factory sales.. Dan's knives all sell out in hours/days anyway and I think a forum of 'friends' who sell at closer to original prices (than BF) to other forumites is to be commended! Just my 1 pence (worth about 2 cents!)

You're thinking about a sticky thread kind of setup, as opposed to a seperate forum? I think its a cool idea. It'd be a great way for us to avoid the random PM's and the hassle of the scalpers on the secondary market.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. As long as its not an all out sale thread - but as you described it, it should work well.

As long as all negociations and sales were off the forum, it just might work. I am sure that many of us have scrapyard knives we would trade for other models. Sometimes I have been known to buy more than one of a given model.
