Good on you. We recently lost a rescue dog, Ruger, to cancer. He was awesome.

Last Sunday evening, our last pup in a long series of rescued pups, laid her head down for the time beside me as I was grilling on the deck.
She had spent the whole day laying out in grass enjoying the sun in the middle of the yard on her last day. When I came to start grilling she came up on the deck and layed down beside me. When I went into the house to get a seving platter, I asked her if she wanted to go in, she raised her head and looked at me with big sleepy eyes and layed lowered he head back down on her paws. I figured she wanteed to be by the grill in case I dropped something. When I went bak out with the platter a few minute later, she had quitely passed. What a great way to go.

SO sorry for the loss of your buddy mastiff. I know how you feel. We had to put down our 17 year old Jack Russell Penny Sept 11 last year. We had her for 15 1/2 years. YUP, a rescue dog. But Bella is working her way into our hearts. Five pounds of Fierceness (at least she thinks so).
