I just shoot the rem express 405 and 350's. ABout the only time it goes in the filed is if I travel to Texas to take some feral hogs.
When I get too old to pull back a bow it may go into the rotation for Elk.

Yeah, not a fan of selling guns. Been a couple of handguns I had no issue selling off, but rifles seem different. Knives I can more easily part with for some reason.
Problem is I'm running out of room in the safe...
What about the 458 SOCOM?

I know a few people who have built them and like them for hogs. I have never played around with one though.
If I lived someplace where hogs were a problem I might have one.

Someday I'd love to hunt other big game besides whitetail. A few more years and hogs will be in the area. Elk may be in before I can no longer hunt. Black bear are more numerous, but still fairly rare for this area....

I want a 300 BLK but I am leary of adding another caliber and then I would be mandated to get a suppressor for it. That's what it was designed for

What's the range on a SOCOM? Built on the same lower as a 223 or is it a different size action?

I am lucky. We have nearly everything but grizzy and hogs. Occasionally you hear of the rare/odd grizz sighting that's real.
Whitetails are here but not where I hunt.

Don't think of the 300 BLK as a difft round, think of it as a Recycling gun. You can reuse 223 brass that's split the necks and 308 bullets you have lying around.

I love to hunt but don't as much time as I would liek since we moved to the city.
I will get the occasional out of state hunt but its always to a public land or a private property that wants hogs gone.

Public land around here is dangerous and less than optimally productive. I spend time knocking on doors to make sure we have private land to hunt.

LOL, That's why I bow hunt here. Plus we have 1.6 million acres of public land that starts right at the city limits. You can get in the back country during bow season and not see anyone depending on where you go.
Rifle season.........not so much.
