Thanks Private, you're right. Thanks for sitting out and letting us stragglers take a stab at it guys. At least I know how the bowl works now, won't make the same mistake next time.

Although if there had been some more Dog Fathers I may have had to jump in! Me too. That is the ultimate chopping bowie. I ground a monster swedge on mine today. Be nice to have a "normal" one too. Ordered an RD-7. Need to round out my Ranger collection. I too would go for a couple more DF's. What combo did you go w/ on the RD7 GM Funk? Sorry, Dice, I fell asleep. I went with the standard black blade and tan micarta scales.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I am not much of an investor, Bruce. I just like the Rangers. The RD-7 is priced reasonably. I have two RD-9s (old and new style) and one RD-6 old style. They are thicker than the Ontario RATs and priced close to the same. I like the 5160 steel, too. Just wait until you get that Scapper 6. Mine has replaced the Ranger as my favorite 6" knife. I prefer it to the Yard Guard even. The S6 may not be much to look at, but it sure feels good.

That's why I bought one, Vic (with a little help from a friend. ) I finally bowed to the wisdom of Dog after Dog after Dog who kept extolling the virtues of that blade. I agree, it's not much to look at. But there's something about it that makes those who own it total and complete afficianados. I need to understand what that is for myself. Besides, it was Dan's first Scrap Yard knife. How could I NOT own it? The S6 is so nice, and the Res-C feels so comfortable! In fact, I might just have to get another next time... So are you gonna use yours,Bld522??

Here are some of my other six inchers. You see which one is at the top. I forgot to include my Buck 119. ![[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]](http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w64/rivershaman/SixInchers.jpg)

I have to agree with everyone's sentiments on the S6. There's just something slightly magical about how that knife feels in the hand. The weight of that 6.5" blade just seems to melt away. Weird!

The Scrapper 6 and the Yard Guard both feel great in the hand!
