So if really sticking to a budget, get the PSA blem complete lower for $200. I'd still go with the upgraded BCG--nice and smooth and easy to clean. Having unlimited funds would be nice. Although if we had that, discussions over budget 308s would not be necessary

Randy,
The TLR-2s is amazing, but it really depends on if you feel you need the strobe to dominate a possible situation or not? I like having the feature on mine, but honestly couldn't tell you if it would even occur to me to use it in a fight. Perhaps on a surrendering perp, but during a firefight, I'm probably going to be lights out until I need to ID my target. But, on the other side of the coin, have you ever been strobed by a 150 Lumen lamp in a pitch black room? It's crazy disorienting. My buddy Jarrod even lost his balance and almost toppled during our testing (no firearms were involved, only flashlights.)

If you are in a small room, the strobe would also likely disorient you as well, although not to the same extent.

I have never used a strobe when I had a gun out. I have used them to temp blind someone to disorient them while I moved but never on a weapons light.

I was wondering how useful it would actually be.

I think that my first priority should be a light and mounting bracket along with the remote pad.

If you know someone who has a remote pad try before you buy. To me they are one of those things you like or you hate.
I go for simple and reliable. I have ripped off enough remote wires that I won't use them anymore. But a tail cap switch also fits my grip style more than a pressure pad.
One isn't better than the other its all personal preference.

If I could mount the light where I want (where my natural grip is on the forearm) I would just probably use the switch that comes on the light. But that would mean I would have to put a different handguard on it.

Some day, I hope to add this to my setup--a foregrip with a light mount that allows you to use a natural trigger to activate the light: Mako foregrip with light trigger

Runs about $70-75 and seems like a perfect solution to the light issue. Maybe next season for coyotes or if I can figure out how to mount it to my plastic Stevens stock 25-06 for spotlighting deer...
