411 or an ESEE 4 would be in the ballpark and would either one be pretty much bullet proof.

I checked into the Condor knives--looks pretty dang interesting. Tom, have you abused yours yet? Curious how indestructible they are and how well they perform. Thinking I might want one for the car.

I haven't really beat on mine, waiting for warmer weather and walks in the fields. I slightly sharpened the swedge and edge, and it's a pretty wicked knife. The fact that it's inexpensive helps; not the end of the world if someone stole it from my truck. One other inexpensive choice would be a Buck 119 from Wal-Mart....about $50.00 for a sharp blade.

He wants a fighter that chops and batons well and shoots rainbows and pixey dust out of it's pommel... If it could also accept AR mags, I might buy at least two.

Just making sure we're still discussing knives Would love to see a chop off between the Condor and the 911 or the Dogfather or even the M9. M9 is probably the most similar, but I defer to you Tom since you actually own one...a Condor knife that is.

The RATMANDU is a perfect campknife - too bad the INFIDU version is out of reach - it was my favourite for Scandinavia the time I first touched it...

I think 7-9 is ideal, but 6" might work as would an RMD (IMO). He's not quite sure what the purpose is, making it hard to guide his choice. He wants a fighter that chops and batons well and shoots rainbows and pixey dust out of it's pommel... This would be the DSF...I wish Dan or the Swamp would make a comparable version...I live in Cali though and we have enough pixie dust MM

I've been calling for a Dog DSF for some time now, to no avail. Slap a Regulator handle on it and call it a day.

The DSF would be cool with a DogFather style Res-C handle!

I would go for an Ontario, Becker or EESE in that price range. The Schrade SCHF9 (?) is also a winner. Carbon Steel, readily available and reasonable priced. He can choose what he wants and buy it new. You won't feel hurt when he trades it for a game cartridge or movie tickets. And if you're giving out Busse kin for your kids, let me stop by your house and call you daddy too!
