Coming down the hill the other day, my feet kept slipping and I could have used a walking stick.

The Gorge is said to be the roughest terrain east of the Rockies, and I believe it. It's something else down in there.

The EASIEST trail in there is a mile and a half and about 800 feet drop in elevation, and of course you gotta come out of there somehow.

The rough trails are less in distance, but drop more than a thousand feet and most are rougher trails too.

The one I was on yesterday was a tough trail, but the worst part of it was that it was all loose stones. Every step had to be guarded against your feet slipping.

Yeah it can get dangerous, falls, slips, getting stuck on stob that sort of thing. Be sure you wear boots that you can lace up tight for ankle support.

I've got a pretty good pair of Wolverine boots that I wear for stuff like that. I'm getting a pair of Merrell boots in the near future. They're lighter, breathe better and are still waterproof.
