Strip it and put a patina on it, it would look really neat.

Welcome to the yard.

I have the HDD but it's not stripped. I do have experience with Folding knives in 12c27 being exposed to sweat and showing oxidization but not pitting.

It is a good stainless steel but still needs some attention.

Not sure this steel would take a patina very well being technically considered a 'stainless' steel. Of course any steel can oxidize regardless, but it just may take some stronger kinds of chemicals to achieve with this.

It can be etched. I have used fluoric acid and muriatic acid. Once I did it accidentally. smile

Welcome to the yard and thankfully stripping doesn't effect the warranty, or a lot of us would be in trouble! laugh

Thanks for all the warm welcomes and advice! I've been crazy at work, but started my vacation yesterday so finally time to do this project,, I also brought home a bunch of waterstones from work, (posted a bunch of pics of my AMS after reprofiling on the Busse site) so I also plan on touching up the edge on the dagger,, although I'm going to leave the tip and 1/2 inch of edge from the tip alone,, as its geometry is perfect for piercing and the like...
I was also thinking (as I was hiking and fishing in the mountains of Virginia) that the dagger design would be perfect for lashing to a long branch as a spear if needed,, mostly because I couldn't get this finicky native trout to take my fly,,,almost wanted to spear the little sucker!

Hmmm. Methinks you could "Notch" a hiking staff so that you could just insert the Dagger into the notch and then lash the blade down. That way you would always have the means to have a "Spear" with you on your outings.

I don't have the stuff at my house or in the shop to do that,, although I'd like the look of it. I've seen videos of people doing it by placing the knife in a can of stones,, then wrapping it in a towel and running it in the dryer,,, not sure if that's what I want to do,,, we'll see!
