Satin finish looks good, but it takes a lot of work.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I hear you. I am trying to finish a piece of steel I am working on and it's painful, literaly.

Vic - you're crazy! They look great though, nice work.

One of these days I'll get a 3rd World Grind Shop Custom, by Grindmaster Funk.

those look pretty cool.

Not really sure if it's possible......but would they be able to be bead blasted??
Yes. I had a Cold Steel Trailmaster beadblasted and then "Parkerized" (zinc phosphate coating). The parkerized finish looks much better to me than the epoxy coating that modern tactical knives use. It may not be as effective, though.

Why did you have to mention "Parkerize"

Well, I just finished parkerizing the bare metal on my Dumpster Mutt. Not perfect, but good enough. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

When you care enough to use only the best...stick'em with a SKYCO knife.

Very nice work... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> I really like that rough but smooth bare steel look... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
That makes at least two of us! It is a lot easier than grinding and buffing all day! I think it has a rugged "tactical" or industrial heavy metal look. I like it.

I didn't spend as much time as normal preping the knife, so the results aren't the best.

Interesting. It looks much lighter than I would have thought. I suppose the epoxy is a very dark contrast to the park. My dad is getting park tanks setup for doing some rifles. I had not really thought about doing knives before. Thanks for the pics.

I like the parkerized look. My Ontario RTAK has it, but the new RTAK 2 uses green epoxy.
