Vic - I almost did the same thing! I wonder if you can do better at the Blade Show? Either way, I would say that you got yourself a nice knife for the money. Tom

Yeah, Tom. The Browning just looked like a lot of knife for the money. I am burning my tax refund fast. I have a fat FBM on order too. Lord knows what we'll see at Blade that we just must have. I hope Dan brings a few DFLE's. I really want one of those.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Too late for me, Bruce, but maybe I can use the technique in the future. I thought the Crowell was a bargain at $140. A 10" polished flat ground, micarta handled chopper in a leather sheath looked too good to pass up. Since Browning put their name on it, I figured the quality was good. We will see. Thanks for showing it to us.

What that signals to me is that a market demand exists for big, tough, inexpensive camp knives that is NOWHERE NEAR BEING FULFILLED. I'm the type to never believe what I read. What that tells me is that they have good marketing. Makes you want to buy one, doesn't it?

Well if A.G. Russell is to be believed, "these knives are selling like donuts at a cowboy campfire." What that signals to me is that a market demand exists for big, tough, inexpensive camp knives that is NOWHERE NEAR BEING FULFILLED. And it looks like at least one other knifemaker is getting the message. PS: Are you listening, Dan? You realize, of course, that you could RULE this market segment if you chose to. Even Spyderco has come out with some choppers. Spyderco! The market is there.
