So true. The closest martial arts training near me is in a town 19 miles away, teaching karate.

Sorry, it's all a bunch of useless nonsense built to take your money. IMO. If you carry any knife for self defense, you're not carrying enough ammo. I love my knives, don't get me wrong. But I'd be just as likely to look to jab a ballpoint in someone's eyeballs as pull a knife if I was unarmed. Being able to pull a knife fast is great.. if you're within arm's reach of the bad guy.

Ninja videos are great... entertainment.

Knives cut stuff, build stuff, do useful things. If you're relying on a knife for defense or offense you've done messed up.

Grog, yup. BUT sometimes you can't carry a firearm in certain places. Having a knife is better than not having anything. I personally have ended an altercation before it started just by having a knife suddenly appear in my hand. Are there better choices, YOU BET. BUT having something besides bare hands does give you a one up at times.

To me, a knife is a backup to your firearm AND your mind and feet. Meaning that IF you are in a corner and can't extricate yourself in ANY other way, and grave harm or death is looming on the horizon for you, then you go to steel.
