I think I like the non-swedge of the fatty better. I tend to baton more than I chop and the swedge just eats up batons.

I think I like the non-swedge of the fatty better. I tend to baton more than I chop and the swedge just eats up batons. I don't think I'll swedge this one, Brian. I may strip it, though. The DF already had kind of a bowie shape to it. It came out good. Only the first inch of the swedge is actually sharp. There is still plenty of room for baton work.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Nice pics. You'll have to have a chop off and post the results for us.

I need to find some bigger wood that is "worthy". I already know that the FBM and the DF are about even, with the comfort factor going to the DF. But this thing, this what is it called anyway? This fat FBM has some serious heft to it. It just might out chop my heavy golok. This fatty is a brute. It is like an axe! I still prefer the DF, though. It is about as heavy as I want to carry around all day. The fatty would make me walk in circles!
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Dang Vic - that is a sweet blade. Maybe Dan will make a CG Fat Father one of these days - but if that doesn't happen, the DF is my trusty lifelong chopping partner! I've overspent myself "researching" knives, and found my permanent home w/ Scrapyard. I've been distancing myself from everyone else, and will probably be buying my steel exclusively from the yard...
Can't wait to see your chopoff pix though - I'm envious!!

I still prefer the Dog Father to the Busses, even if the Fat One can out chop it (which is possible). I want a DFLE. If it doesn't come out soon, I am going to MAKE ONE!

With the comfort factor taken in, I'm assuming that the DF will produce more chopped wood per session than the Fatty just because of fatigue and blisters caused by the Blister Maker's micarta grips
I did some serious DF chopping last weekend, and my whole hand felt like it'd been smashed w/ a sledge hammer, but I was blister free (had some hot spots though).
The Fatty didn't look that much thicker than the DF in your pix - its about .02" thicker, right? Pretty negligable? Or am I way off?
