If it was my money I would look hard at Wilson combat GD I have handled a few and read and heard a lot about them and nothing bad to be heard at least as far as I have seen.

I just don't see the "value" in a 1911. Yes there are those who will string me up and yes I do have one with above $2K invested in it. It works, it shoots well it feels good in hand. No question. But it is truly just not worth the $$s (performance vs price vs value vs utility) invested when you can see just what else you can buy with the same amount. I MUCH prefer the Browning Hi Power in about every respect. Buy a pair of Glocks, or FNs plus magazines and an imperial shyte tonne of ammunition for for them for that same $2K investment. Sorry rant off... Don't read that wrong either, I do love my 1911 it is a classy and useful tool, just not for the $$s people are spending on them !!!!

I was just wondering . When I buy another handgun it will need to be a high cap 9mm for 3gun. I'm waiting till I can shoot my LAV g17 so well it's holding me back before I buy anything. Lots of guys I'm competing against have STI 2011s

Wow that's amazing. What do you think the best 1911 for or less than $2000 is? I already answered in my original post: Les Baer. Reading skills are fundamental.

For $2000 I can buy: Ruger LCP Glock 19 HK45C Spare mags Ammo I'd have every one of my defensive handgun needs covered.

I would happily take a pair of lightly customised BHPs over a top end 1911. And to repeat myself I do love the 1911 ! For 2K (here in Aus) I would simply take two Glock 17s or a 17 and a 19 (laws aside) and magazines and ammunition.

Andy, I can buy new Glock 17s for about 500 here.
1911s are neat. I get drawn in every other year or so, but get frustrated with them quickly.
Yesterday I took my S&W Shield to the range and ran a bunch of drills. Zero malfunctions, accurate. $359.

I also shot about 250 rounds out of my LWRC IC-E. I would zero my Aimpoint T1 and then lose zero. The mount was loose - rookie mistake.
I ordered a LaRue mount when I made it home. I'll be selling the factory 39mm LRP mount cheaply. It was my fault for not tightening it, but I just like LaRue.

$2000....
Ruger LCP $200 (local sale price I saw today) (2) Glock 19 $1000 (1 add'l) LCP Mag $30 (6 add'l) Glock Mags $150 (2000rds) 9mm $500 (300rds) 380 $160
No defensive ammo in this, but lots of training. You'll never wear two Glock 19s out in several lifetimes of active shooting.

Guys, I'm looking for a relatively inexpensive AK-47 with a 30 round magazine. So far I have found the Century Arms weapons, but what is the difference between the WASR and other models?

Tom, Century has an EARNED reputation for using dislexic French monkeys to assemble their guns. What do you consider cheap (price range)?
Andy, Any idea what the conversion rate is (dollars to Aussie Pesos)?
